Pastels are a soft type of chalk based on kaolin (china clay) and pigment, with which drawings can be made in a style similar to painting. Artists who work with pastels tend to see their work as a painting rather than a drawing. In contrast to what the name suggests, the pastel range also contains very bright colours.
Rembrandt soft pastels are world renowned, professional-quality sticks that are manufactured with only the purest pigments and finest quality kaolin clay. They are made in The Netherlands under strict quality control standards. Each colour is made with unique pigmentation formulas. These round sticks have excellent softness for beautiful colour release and toning.

Rembrandt soft pastels are hard enough for fine detail, sharp edges and light marks. But they are also soft enough for bold mark making, splashes of colour and juicy highlights. Rembrandt soft pastels are great for any technique, whether it is bold and expressionist or highly realistic and refined.
