Stenciling with Marabu Fashion Spray
For textiles (cotton and mixed fabrics up to max. 20 % synthetic fibres), wash out the finish and fabric softener. Select the Silhouette stencil and place it on the fabric. Spray with any fashion spray colour. Several shades can also be used (wet on wet or after a short drying time). To avoid unwanted colour stains on the fabric, briefly dab the colour off the stencil with kitchen paper before removing it. Carefully lift the stencil and clean it immediately under cold water.
Free spraying, colour gradients with Marabu Fashion Spray.
For textiles (cotton and mixed fabrics up to max. 20 % synthetic fibre content), wash out the finish and fabric softener. Of course, T-shirts, cushions etc. can also be designed without a motif. Simply spray the fabric with one or more colours of Fashion Spray as the mood takes you. Great colour gradients are also possible with the Fashion Spray.
Mask off, remove with Marabu Fashion Spray.
For textiles (cotton and mixed fabrics up to max. 20 % synthetic fibre content), wash out the finish and fabric softener. To leave out certain areas when spraying, either mask them off with masking tape or cover them with cardboard. This is a particularly quick and easy way to create graphic patterns and stripes. To do this, place a piece of cardboard inside the top so that the paint does not bleed through to the back. Then fix the T-shirt or similar tightly to the backing with adhesive tape. Cover the desired pattern with the tape or lay it down with cardboard. Now spray the textile with fashion spray in one or more colours. Remove the tape when dry and allow to dry briefly. Marabu Silhouette stencils can also be used. To create great highlights on the T-shirt, simply paint a line pattern all over with the Marabu Fashion Liner or paint on discreet embellishments. Finally, fix the fabric in place.
Twist technique with Marabu Fashion Spray
For textiles (cotton and mixed fabrics up to max. 20 % synthetic fibres), wash out the finish and fabric softener. You can achieve impressive effects with the twist technique. Spray the fabric with fashion spray and allow to dry. Then grasp the fabric in the middle and twist it to form a spiral. Take a wooden spoon, for example, and twist the fabric until a kind of “pretzel” is formed. Spray a different, darker shade over it to add more colourful accents. Leave the twisted, sprayed fabric for an hour. Then unfold and let dry, done! For wash resistance up to 40°C, fix the cloth.
Setting with Marabu Fashion Spray
For textiles (cotton and mixed fabrics up to max. 20 % synthetic fibre content), wash out the finish and fabric softener. Wrap individual sections of a T-shirt or similar with yarn as in the batik technique. If necessary, the upper part of the shirt can be covered with cardboard and taped tightly to the backing. This area will remain white later. Now spray the textile with fashion spray in one or more colours. After drying, loosen the yarn and fix the fabric.
Tips & Tricks
Removing finishes/pre-washing textiles
Before painting, new textiles have to be washed at least once without fabric conditioners. Fabric finishes and conditioners prevent the fibre from absorbing the paint. Colour fastness after fixing cannot be guaranteed in this case.
Cover before spraying
Cover the base and clothing generously before spraying and insert cardboard between the layers of fabric.
Spray before use
Shake Fashion-Spray before use and spray 2-3 times on a neutral surface (e.g. paper).
Wipe off spray head
Wipe off the Fashion-Spray spray head after use.
Fixing Fashion Spray
Fixation: After drying (approx. 2 hours), iron in a preheated oven (8 min./150 °C) or through a cloth at cotton temperature (3 min./30 x 30 cm).
Achieve particularly sharp contours
For particularly sharp contours, fix the stencil to the surface with Marabu Stencil Adhesive Spray.
Washing and ironing
Wash textiles inside out (max. 40 °C) and iron.
Preventing the spray head from sticking with Fashion Spray, Fashion Spray Shimmer and Art Spray
You can avoid or minimise sticking by spraying the spray head with clear warm water after use and then wiping the nozzle with a cloth. To do this, remove the spray head, place it in a cup of clear water and spray it through in the sink.
