Marabu Aqua Varnish

Marabu Aqua Varnish is a clear, water-based acrylic varnish. Depending on type: Transparent high-gloss, matt or satin-finish. Weather-resistant.

Marabu Aqua Varnish is ideal for pre-school, school, craft and leisure use for clear varnishes on many craft projects and materials.

Note: All three Marabu Aqua Varnishes appear milky in the jar and after application. The desired effect will appear after drying, though – transparent glossy, matt or satin-finish. Not suitable for varnishing paint coats and materials which are easily water soluble after drying.

Glazed painting technique

Glazes are colour layers which make the substrate transparent – a very interesting thing, e.g. for wood to accentuate the nature of the grain.
Besides a covering paint application, glazed painting is even possible using Decormatt Acryl. For this, Decormatt Acryl is thinned with some water. A final application with colourless Marabu Aqua Varnishes will protect your designs.
Transparent painting/glazed painting technique.

Glazes are colour layers which make the substrate transparent – a very interesting thing, e.g. for wood to accentuate the nature of the grain. But even structured papers (e.g. Japanese paper) and the like can be effectively “dyed”. No limits are set to your taste and imagination! Besides a covering paint application, glazed painting is even possible using Decormatt and Decorlack Acryl. For this, the Decormatt/Decorlack Acryl paint is thinned with some water. A final application with colourless Marabu Aqua Varnish will protect your designs.

The Marabu range provides the ideal partners for painting, embellishing and varnishing your clay pot figures: Decormatt Acryl, Decorlack Acryl and the Metallic, Glitter and 3D Liners. Serviette technique is also highly suitable for creating stunning designs on clay pots!

Protective coat for Basic Acryl

We recommend applying one of our clear varnishes to protect outdoor objects or objects with mechanical wear.

Unsuitable materials

The aqua Varnishes are not suitable for varnishing designs painted with easily water-soluble paints such as finger paint. Do not use on Fimo.

Weather resistance

Painting or spraying with the clear varnishes achieves good weather resistance and a dirt-repellent effect.

Additional protection for your serviette technique creations

If you have objects that are intended for outdoor use, give them an extra coat of varnish with the Serviette Varnish & Glue or the Marabu Aqua Varnish after drying.
